My Story

My journey into therapy did not begin with textbooks alone — it began with people.

Throughout my personal life and professional roles, I found myself drawn to listening deeply, holding space, and supporting others through moments of confusion, pain, and transition. I became increasingly aware of how many people carry emotional burdens quietly, often believing they must cope alone.

Working closely with individuals from diverse backgrounds, I witnessed how unprocessed
experiences, unmet emotional needs, and a lack of safe spaces to be heard can shape self-worth, relationships, and life choices. These experiences planted the seed for what would become Shalima’s Therapy Room — a practice rooted in compassion, reflection, and genuine human connection.

I created this space to offer what I believe is essential for healing: time, presence, curiosity, and respect for each person’s unique story.

My Motivation

I am motivated by a deep belief that healing becomes possible when people feel truly seen and understood.

Many clients come to therapy feeling stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected from themselves, or burdened by long-standing emotional wounds. Others arrive navigating identity struggles, relationship difficulties, or major life transitions.

What drives me is walking alongside people as they begin to make sense of their experiences, reconnect with their inner strength, and develop healthier ways of relating to themselves and others — particularly those who have learned to silence their needs, people-please, or doubt their worth.

My Values

My work is guided by the following values:

  • Compassion – Healing begins with kindness, not self-criticism

  • Safety – Therapy should feel emotionally safe, respectful, and non-judgemental

  • Authenticity – Honesty and openness are central to meaningful change

  • Empowerment – My role is not to fix you, but to support your insight and agency

  • Cultural & Spiritual Sensitivity – I work with awareness of culture, faith, and identity

My Approach

I work integratively, meaning therapy is shaped around you rather than a single model.

Depending on your needs, I may draw from person-centred therapy, psychodynamic understanding,
CBT-informed tools, and trauma-aware practice. I place strong emphasis on the therapeutic
relationship, as feeling understood and supported is central to meaningful and lasting change.

Sessions are collaborative, paced carefully, and led by what feels most helpful for you.
